Air layered the tree to see if there is anything to do with it. It presents a challenging design problem.

Attempted air layer.

Chopped top off, took 17 cuttings into rooting hormone and potting soil. Straightened and reduced roots, exposed nebari. Considering taking remaining cuttings with rooting hormone and water, and discontinuing work on this tree since it has a graft onto Deadora Cedar (probably) root stock. . Grafted a couple blue atlas cedar branches into deadora cedar trunk, could be interesting if they succeed.

Lanky one, maybe a source for props.

Excited to see if I can propogate this tree. It's grafted, probalby on a deodor cedar.
